Federico Macheda had a dismal time on loan at Sampdoria, our young striker has told Sky Italia he hopes to return to the Premier League next season.
“Psychologically it was not easy because to go from United to Sampdoria and to fight to avoid the drop was a difficult situation,” he said. “I wanted to have an experience in Italy but now I want to remain in the Premier League. England is better suited for young players.”
Despite scoring in the cup, the 19-year-old failed to score in 14 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria.
“I arrived in Genoa with great enthusiasm,” he continued. “The first few games the team and I did very well but after the defeat to Napoli, I did not find continuity.”
With Wayne Rooney, Chicharito and Michael Owen all certainly at the club next season, Dimitar Berbatov likely, as well as Danny Welbeck, you have to wonder how many opportunities he will have at United. The best solution is probably seeing if we can get him at a decent Premier League club on loan next season.
