Roy Hodgson is lining up a £2.5million bid for Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak - as Scott Carson heads for the West Brom exit.
Hodgson will move to bring former Albion star Kuszczak back to the Hawthorns and end his hunt for a new keeper.
Carson's protracted £2m move to Turkish side Bursaspor is finally set to go through in the next 48 hours after a delay over paperwork.
And Hodgson is ready to pounce for the Poland international, who is ready to leave Old Trafford after four years.
Kuszczak, 29, moved to United from the Baggies for £2m in 2007 but has grown increasingly frustrated as Edwin van der Sar's understudy.
While Van der Sar has now retired, Kuszczak is facing more frustration after the £17.8m arrival of David de Gea from Atletico Madrid this week.
Hodgson has identified a new goalkeeper as a priority position after sanctioning England international Carson's move to Turkey.
The Baggies boss is also prepared to listen to offers for current No.2 keeper Boaz Myhill, who only joined from Hull last summer.
