Manchester United are set to suffer more disappointment in the transfer market with French whizzkid Raphael Varane ready to snub them in favour of a move to Real Madrid.
Varane is set to follow Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez in turning down Sir Alex Ferguson and the Lens centre-half would prefer to team up with Jose Mourinho.
Fergie thought he had stolen a march on Real last week when he lodged a £9.3million bid with Lens for the 18-year-old.
However Real matched their offer and have flown Varane over to the Spanish capital for a tour of their facilities.
Paris St Germain, armed with a huge warchest following their takeover by Qatar Holdings, are also tempting Varane to stay in Ligue 1.
But Real have impressed Varane most and he feels they offer him the best platform to develop his hugely-promising career.
