Aston Villa winger Ashley Young is set to complete a move to Manchester United, with an announcement expected to be made by the weekend.

The Aston Villa star's representatives held talks with the Premier League champions earlier this month and personal terms were agreed before he jetted off on holiday it is believed the player had a medical yesterday.

Young has been at Villa Park for four-and-a-half years after joining from Watford but has only one year left on his contract.

His future has been the subject of intense speculation for some time, with a series of sparkling performances last season reportedly attracting the interest of several clubs.

.New Villa manager Alex McLeish admitted earlier this week Young was destined to depart this summer.

"It's not confirmed yet but it does seem likely," the Scot told talkSPORT.

"In my humble opinion it will be very difficult to keep hold of him."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson lost long-serving midfielder Paul Scholes to retirement earlier this month and has already signed Blackburn youngster Phil Jones.
